Check your email
When you complete your purchase, check your inbox right away.Â
You’ll receive a welcome email that contains your account number, plus instructions on setting up account access, creating a password and security question, and activating your account.
Read the guide
You’ll also get a link to our Onboarding Guide, that contains important information for set up and future needs.Â
It will cover everything you need to know for how to plug in and/or download the mobile app and start making calls.Â

Simple steps to Vonage Business Communications phone service
You purchased your plan, received the welcome email, and logged into your new account. What's next?
Setting up your company phone number
The first time you log in, you’ll be able to choose the phone numbers you want to use for your new account.  Â
Keeping your existing number? You can submit an online porting request. Our specialists will work with your current and new providers to port your numbers, including local voice numbers, toll-free voice numbers, fax numbers, and wireless numbers.
Time frames vary depending on the level of cooperation from your current carrier—generally it can take 10 business days for toll-free voice numbers and local analog voice and fax machines, and two to four weeks for local and toll-free paperless fax numbers.
Setting up your account
Through the Admin Portal:Â Â
- Add users and assign them extensions Â
- Set up your Virtual Receptionist: this is what customers will hear when they call your main company number, and it's fully customizable
- Set up optional features like Call Groups, Company Call Recording, and Paperless Fax
- Activate your account and start calling!Â
Setting up your smartphone and desktop apps
Want to use Vonage Business Communications from your smartphone or computer?Â
Simply download the Desktop or Mobile apps from the Android or App store, install the applications, sign into your new account, and start exploring your new business phone system.
Setting up your desk phones
Physical desk phones/hardware are easy to set these up once your account is activated. Â
If you purchased new phones through us, they’ll be pre-assigned extensions and will be shipped to you ready-to-use.
If you plan to use phones you already have, you’ll just need to be sure they’re compatible. Vonage’s solution works with a wide range of phones. Check your phone compatibility here. Once your plan is active, you can assign them extensions, plug in, and start calling! Â
